The wheel disk D is divided into a main disk 21 and a sub-disk 22 opposed thereto, and the intermediate regions 27 and 51 of the disks 21 and 22 are formed with holes differing in size, shape, or distribution, preferably so as to resemble wire spokes. The sub-disk 22 is superposed from the outside onto the surface of the main disk 21 such that the space surrounded by the intermediate regions 27, 51 and by the wheel axis 0-0 is bridged by a three-dimensional truss of substantially triangular cross-section. The disks 21, 22 are removably attached together at their bosses 25, 46 and at their peripheral regions 23, 42 by screw clamping devices so that they are rotatable as a unit. The main disk may be integral with all or part of a wheel rim (Figs 7-11) and in the latter case the sub-disk may be integral with another part of the wheel rim (Fig 8). The main disk may be mounted to an adapter plate (A) (Figs 3 - 7) having mounting holes (37) on a pitch circle of diameter to match the hub (26) (Fig 3) of a vehicle axle. <IMAGE>
