A slide member comprises a slide portion, the surface of which comprises a metal crystal belonging to a cubic system with a plane of (hOO) by Miller indices directed toward said slide surface such that said (hOO) plane occupies at least 50% of the area of said slide surface. Such slide members have improved slide surface oil retention and seizure resistance. The crystals may be of a Pb alloy containing <17% Sn, and are produced by electroplating in a borofluoride-based plating bath. <IMAGE> |
