CLOSURE

The invention relates to a closure designed in particular for a downwards-facing outlet of a container intended to hold granular material. The closure has a slide plate held, so that it can be slid by a drive unit, in a housing fitted with slideways and disposed at an angle to the axis of the outlet. In order, in such a closure, to ensure reliable sealing and high resistance to wear, the invention calls for a closed-ring seal (12) made of elastomeric material to be fitted on the side of the slide plate (8) facing the container, preferably in a groove. Also fitted is a sealing element (17) with a circular sealing edge (18), preferably a knife edge, the sealing element being mounted so that it can be moved, substantially at right angles, up against the seal (12).
