Coins entering the track (13) are engaged by a series of belts (14, 15) having projections (66). When the coins distort the projections (66) upon entering the track (13), they are forced against the rail (21) and are thereafter carried by the belt (14) along the track until they reach their respective opening. At the opening, the release of the distorted projections (66) imparts a force which lifts the coins over the lip and through the opening.
