PURPOSE:To execute the correction of designation of a minute area without suspending an operation of a function which is being used and to make the device easily useable by executing continuously an instruction for designating the same area with respect to an area subjected to area designation already and contracting the designated area by a one-character unit, in the document generating device. CONSTITUTION:A change key deciding means 9 and an area changing means 10 are provided. When an area designating instruction from a key input means 1 is executed, an area is designated by an area designating means 4, and in the next step, whether an instruction of an area change key by the area changing means 10 is designated or not designated is decided by a change key deciding means 9. In the case there is the charge key instruction, before the area designation is nearly completed and the area is decided definitely, a character of the end or the head of a character-string of the designated area is retrieved by the change key deciding means 9 and the character of the end or the head of the character-string is eliminated from the designated area by the area changing means 10. Also, a punctuation mark retrieving means is provided and the character-string placed between punctuation marks is eliminated. |
