SPEED CHANGE CONTROL DEVICE OF AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FOR VEHICLE

PURPOSE:To prevent racing of an engine and enhance acceleration performance in a power-on downshift by a clutch-to-clutch speed change. CONSTITUTION:When decreasing of engine output is judged to be practicable at a step 340 (when a catalyst temperature S is decided lower than a specified temperature S1), engine torque-down is executed at the time of performing a 3 to 2 downshift (steps 360-390). Decreasing of engine output is judged regulated at the step 340, steps of 430 and thereafter are processed whereby quick feed of B1 oil pressure is executed instead of the engine output decreasing so as to prevent engine racing. Consequently, speed change can be conducted at a speed change point set at a lower load side than conventional so as to enhance acceleration performance without generation of engine racing.
