<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a tape guide drum device for magnetic recording and reproducing devices which can incorporate a circuit without increasing its overall thickness and, at the same time, can be easily used in a shared state by rotary transformers of a plane and cylinder types without changing the design of its upper and lower drums and is reduced in size and weight so that the drum device can be easily assembled. CONSTITUTION:Since this tape guide drum device is constituted in such a way that a magnetic head 2 is mounted on the inner bottom surface 11b of a cup-like upper drum 11 with an opened top by protruding the front end section of the head 2 from an opening 14 and the rotating side 32 of a cylindrical rotary transformer 31 is incorporated in an upper drum 14 and, at the time, the head 2 is mounted on a lower drum by fixing the fixed side 33 of the transformer 31 to a fixing-side holder 34, a space A can be formed above the head 2.
