<p>PURPOSE:To allow the formation of the golf club head to a larger size and to improve its durability and club performance by molding at least a part of a head shell of a Ti alloy and subjecting the head shell to a soln. heat treatment and an aging treatment by heating. CONSTITUTION:The head shell is divided to three pieces; a face part 1, a sole part 2 and a crown part 3. The respective parts are assembled and fixed together with a hosel part 4. At least a part of the head shell is formed of the Ti alloy having a compsn. consisting of 3 to 6% Al, 2 to 4% V, 1 to 3% Mo, 1 to 3% Fe, and the balance Ti and unavoidable impurities. The thickness of the face is 2 to 4mm and the head volume is >=210cc. The soln. heat treatment temp. is 700 to 900 deg.C, more preferably 800 to 850 deg.C. The soln. heat treatment time is 10 to 300 minutes, more preferably 30 to 120 minutes. The head shell is heated for 1 to 20 hours, more preferably 5 to 10 hours at 400 to 600 deg.C, more preferably 450 to 350 deg.C in the aging treatment.</p> |
