Dental instrument (1) for establishing an operating field in the vestibular part of the mouth, comprising a cheek retractor (2) which consists of at least one plate (3) having a rounded contour, and an aspiration nozzle (5) arranged adjacent to the plate in such a way as to obtain an aspiration current meeting the inner face (3a) of the said plate. In a manner known per se, on the one hand the retractor (2) also has the function of protecting the tongue, and comprises two similar plates (3, 4) of rounded contour which are arranged opposite each other and define between them an acute angle, an attachment piece (10) external to the inner space (7) formed between the two plates, joining the latter to one another, and on the other hand the aspiration nozzle (5) comprises a terminal mouthpiece (6) having the form of a hollow body, the front end (6a) of which is closed, having a cross section increasing continuously from the said front end (6a) to a rear end (6b), connecting to the remainder of the nozzle (5), the said mouthpiece being arranged on the inner face (3a) and at the base of one (3) of the plates, and the wall or walls (6d, 6e) thereof having, on the side facing the inner space (7), perforations (8d, 8e) for aspiration in the operating field. <IMAGE>
