PURPOSE:To provide an interpolating device for preventing the deterioration of picture quality due to misjudgement in correlation. CONSTITUTION:The interpolating device is provided with plural arithmetic means 4A to 4C for obtaining the arithmetical means of picture elements on upper and lower scanning lines in interpolating lines, plural correlation value detecting means 5A to 5C for obtaining the correlation values of picture elements, a setting means 8 for outputting the reference setting value of correlation, plural comparing means 7A to 7C for outputting binary signals, a determining means 9 for determining an interpolation line, and a selection means 10 for selecting and passing the outputs of the means 4A to 4C.
