<p>PURPOSE:To avoid the damage to tape space and to simplify the construction, by locating a plurality of position detecting magnetic heads at the back of pool column and by detecting the moving detecting of magnetic tape bottom. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic tape device has a pool column 3, and a magnetic tape position detector provides a plurality of position detecting magnetic heads 8, direction detection circuit 11, and motor drive circuit 13. Further, the heads 8 are located in a row with a suitable interval on the pool column space 3b at the back of the pool column 3. Then, when the bottom 6a of magnetic tape crosses position detecting magnetic heads 82, 83 in the pool column 3 and moves downward, a pulse is output from the heads 82, 83 and fed to wave shape direction detecting circuits 11 and 12. Further, the moving direction of the bottom 6a of the magnetic tape is detected and a control signal is output. Thus, with a simple construction and without damaging the tape space, the device can be obtained.</p> |
