PURPOSE:To substantially shorten a required time period before a desired page appears on a screen by starting a requesting action for the head page in the GROUP of much possibility to be specified before desired BOX or GROUP is confirmed. CONSTITUTION:A teletext controlling part 6 which constitutes a page retrieval device for teletext broadcasting specifies one plural BOXs or GROUPs of much possibility to be specified following a predetermined rule in the process when desired BOX or GROUP is selected. In addition, a teletext decoder 7 is instructed to start a request action for fetching each head page of specified one or plural BOXs or GROUPs.
