PURPOSE:To realize ferromagnetic metallic particulates for magnetic recording medium which has a high oxidation resistance and aging resistance by applying any treatment on the surface with specified compounds. CONSTITUTION:The surface of ferromagnetic metallic particulate for magnetic recording medium is treated by applying dinitrogen monoxide in order to obtain a preservative stability. The improvement of coercive force is also achieved by the same treatment because the molecules of dinitrogen monoxide have such functions as to prevent very fine cracks or bonding danglings and stabilize the inconsistent position of structure due to reactive activation. The ferromagnetic metallic particulate for magnetic recording medium is constituted of ferromagnetic metallic materials such as Fe, etc., or ferromagnetic alloy metallic materials constituted of Fe, etc., mainly in an Fe-Co system. For the treatment using dinitrogen monoxide, any metallic particulates are put into a sealed container and then the container is filled with dinitrogen monoxide at max. 80 deg.C under 1atm. Thus the aging deterioration of coercive force and saturated magnetization can be eliminated. |
