The flexible multi-point measuring device uses a combination of coordinate measuring components. It has a basic framework with independent measuring devices supported by relatively spaced support limbs, the respective measuring signals evaluated by a computer using appropriate software and comparison of actual and ideal measuring positions, each ideal position obtained from measuring data marked on the workpiece. Pref. independent sub-systems for multi-point measurements and coordinate measurements operate independantly of one another, with a central anti-collision control.
