The shock absorbing strut for a vehicle has an air spring (2) supported by a first wall (3) on a support wall (9) and by a second wall on an outer tube (11) displaceable relative to the support wall (3). An opening (22, 23) is provided for a bolt (20) which is covered in the spring cavity (8) by an elastic, air tight rubber seal (26) which closes off the opening (22) in the first wall.
