The invention relates to a textile machine, in particular a drawframe or similar device for ensuring that a textile fibre lap is parallel and uniform. The invention is applicable to the processing of natural, synthetic and mixed natural/synthetic textile fibres loosely grouped together. The machine has several drives for individual functions. Common control is provided by a microcomputer which monitors the various drives independently of each other and controls them in accordance with a common control program. A control unit permits dialogue with the machine, as well as the display and modification of the control parameters.
