The spatial movements of measurement points are determined from ultrasonic signals which are transmitted between transmitters located at unknown positions, and receivers located at known positions. Receiver units (EE) comprise three acoustic receivers (M) and two acoustic transmitters (S). Two pairs of transmitters are assigned to respective receiver units (EE1, EE2), one unit being activated with a time offset w.r.t. the other. For analysing walking or running movements, two double units are arranged on either side of the walking path. The units lying directly opposite each other are controlled with a time offset from the acoustic transmitters, while the units arranged diagonally opposite each other are controlled in synchronism. ADVANTAGE - Increased measurement rate, improved accuracy.
