PURPOSE:To provide a thermal recording body having only a little ruggedness and curl. CONSTITUTION:One face of a synthetic paper having heat shrinking percentage of 2.0-5.0% or of a plastic film is coated with undercoat dye containing water soluble resin and/or water dispersing resin and pigment in the proportion of 60/40-10/90 at the rate of 1-10g/m<2>. A thermal coloring layer consisting of leuco dye and developer is provided on the undercoat layer and a back coat layer containing water soluble resin is provided on the rear face thereof.
