The contact arrangement comprises two opposing disc-shaped contact pieces (1) that feature a number of spiral slots (2) that run from the centre to the outer edge of the disc. The middle of each disc is joined to a current connector (3) by a concentric pin (4), while the outer contact edge of the disc is fitted with an encircling crown ring (6) giving rise to a depression over the centre of the contact piece. The ring features an extended upper rounded edge (9) to reduce the chances of contact burning and is manufactured from a low-arcing material such as sintered cooper-chrome. ADVANTAGE - Shape of crown ring reduces chances of arcing and overheating.
