Mfg. casting alloy, esp. for dental parts - by electrolytic deposition of alloy on cathodic carrier plate and removal for further processing as casting alloy

Casting alloy is formed by electrolytic deposition on a carrier and detached from the carrier for further processing as a casting alloy. The alloy is pref. prepd. as a plating soln. and deposited on the carrier from the soln. The carrier is a cathode with a plastic plate, either nickel plated or coated with low m.pt. metal, on which the alloy is deposited. The cathode is detached from the alloy deposit by heating. The nickel layer is removed from the detached alloy deposit by etching. USE/ADVANTAGE - For dental casting alloys, e.g., contg. 96-98% gold and rest silver and/or copper and/or platinum, giving highly homogeneous structure which is retained in subsequent casting.
