The device proposed is used for the electro-optical point- and line-scanning of half-tone and line originals. It is not only a half-tone original scanning system (3) but also a line original scanning system (4). Both the half-tone original scanning system and the line original scanning system are designed as multichannel devices. In order to be able to switch in at will either the half-tone original scanning system or the line original scanning system, the device is fitted with a switchover unit (5).
