PURPOSE:To shorten processing time, and to prevent the deterioration of perfor mance in processing to thin out image data into half in both a vertical and a horizontal directions. CONSTITUTION:As for four central dots of a 4X4-dot image data preserving part 120, a 2X2-dot image analyzing part 130 finds the number of pieces of the dots kept in an ON state. When this number is other than '1', a post- conversion dot determining part 2-170 determines post-conversion image data uniquely from the number of pieces. Only when the number of the dots in the ON state is '1', the post-conversion dot determining part 1-160 determines the post-conversion image data inclusive of the state of the neighboring dots. Since the number of pieces in the case that the dot after conversion has to be determined from the state of the neighboring dots is reduced, the deterioration of the performance can be suppressed. |
