PURPOSE:To prevent an electrode from being pulverized by using a composite of a hydrogen storage alloy and an amorphous carbon. CONSTITUTION:An amorphous carbon such as carbon fiber and a high density crushed carbon is obtained by carbonizing a polymer compound. It is excellent in mechanical strength as it has no crystalline structure. The high molecular compound is mixed to a hydrogen storage alloy powder, and the resulting mixture is defatted at 200-500 deg.C for 0.5-3 hours and heat-treated in vacuum or an inert atmosphere at 800-1100 deg.C for 0.5-10 hours. By this treatment, a hydrogen storage alloy electrode with a large capacity and a long life prevented from being pulverized can be provided. |
