According to the invention, a crane is provided, having a crab which can move along a track, the frame 11 of the said crab 9, as well as the support track 8, being formed in such a manner that the load 15 which is to be lifted can project into or through the frame 11 from below, preferably over a considerable height. The crane may also be provided with a second crab 10 which can be moved along beneath the first crab 9 along the support track 8. It is preferable for the frames 11 of the first crab 9 and second crab 10 to be identical and to have the same dimensions. The characteristic features of the present invention result in a lifting device of relatively low structural height. <IMAGE>
