PURPOSE:To obtain the subject water-soluble albumin useful as an artificial material, etc., having excellent handleability, usable by immobilizing the albumin to the surface of polymer material, having tissue compatibility such as recovery- promoting material for wound treatment by modifying an albumin with an oligopeptide having cell adhesion activity. CONSTITUTION:An albumin (e.g. bovine serum albumin) is dissolved in a phosphoric acid buffer solution (pH 7.4) and reacted with an oligopeptide (e.g. glycine-arginine-glycine-aspartic acid-serine) having cell adhesion under cooling with ice in the presence of 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide hydrochloride as a condensation agent, in a refrigerative chamber at 4 deg.C for 24 hours while stirring. The reaction solution is transferred to a dialyzing membrane, dialyzed for 5 days, unreacted oligopeptide is removed and the dialyzate is lyophilized to give the objective cell adhesive albumin wherein the albumin is modified with the oligopeptide having cell adhesion. |
