In order to further develop the razor (1) of the abovementioned type in such a way that the surface work required for shaving is reduced without the occurrence of the disadvantages produced by a lubricant which, during the shaving process, is dissolved out of the carrier material upon contact with water and forms a lubricating film on the user's skin which improves the slidability, it is proposed that the lubricant be a xerogel which, upon absorption of water as a dispersant, changes into a lyogel with a coefficient of friction of mu < 0.25 which is highly slidable on the user's skin.
