7-Oxabicycloheptyl substituted heterocyclic amide prostaglandin analogs are provided which are thromboxane A2 (TXA2) receptor antagonists or combined thromboxane A2 receptor antagonist/thromboxane synthetase inhibitors and have the structural formula <CHEM> wherein R is SO3H, P(O)OR<3>OH or P(O)R<4>OH, X is O or NH, and Z, R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> are as defined herein.
