The milking cup comprises a flexible membrane (7), with an opening (O) for a teat, on top of a milking cup (2) fitted with a flange (6) which can be moved pneumatically, mechanically or manually, to exert a pulling force on the flexible membrane to enlarge the opening. The pulling force engages at least partly along the periphery of the flexible membrane, made of this rubber-like material, placed over a guide (11). The guide and the flexible membrane are made of materials which slide easily over one another. A sensor (12) is used to sense the presence of a teat in the milking cup.
