A door or window frame comprises lengths of metal extrusion 2, each length of extrusion defining at least one internal cavity, and a restraining bolt 7, the lengths of extrusion being connected by connecting pieces 4 having tongues 5 configured so as to be received snugly by the cavities of the extrusions, the connecting pieces being configured so as to receive and guide the bolt.
