The aparatus comprises a plastic material batching carousel carrying a plurality of shuttles, and elements which take and leave batches of plastic material therein supplied by an extruder . A first star wheel transfers shuttles having batches placed therein towards a forming carousel where the batches of plastic material are pressed to form round gaskets. A second star wheel is adapted to transfer shuttles with the molded gaskets towards a further carousel , where elements are provided to extract the round gaskets from the shuttles and to introduce them into cups. At the bottom of the inserting carousel a star wheel for moving away completed closures and a star wheel for transferring the evacuated shuttles towards the batching carousel are provided.
