A structural member used for the manufacture of a musical instrument such as a plucked string musical instrument, arco string musical instrument or keyboard musical instrument, comprises a structural-member body, which is formed by kneading a mixture including a large number of cut pieces of natural plant and a binder, and compressing the kneaded mixture under heat to form the structural-member body. A decorative plate is fixed to at least a part of the outer surface of the structural-member body.
