21489-7366 N,N-(Dibenzohexatrienylene)ureas can be manufactured in a smooth one-step reaction by reacting corresponding N,N-(di-benzohexatrienylene)amines in a temperature range of from approximately 0.degree.C to approximately 120.degree.C in an organic solvent or a mixture of organic solvents, optionally in the presence of an acidic agent, with cyanic acid which is optionally prepared in situ.
