MANUFACTURE OF MOLDED ITEM USING MINERAL WOOL AS BASE MATERIAL AND MOLD THEREFOR

PURPOSE: To solve the problem that a molding can not be taken out easily from a die at the time of producing a mineral wool-based molding by well known vacuum molding method. CONSTITUTION: A molding die 7 made of a porous permeable material having average pore size of 50μm or less or a free passing cross-section is used. More specifically, the molding die 7 is immersed into a slurry in a tank 1 dispersed with mineral wool and solid particles and the wool in the slurry is caused to adhere to the molding die 7 by generating vacuum. Upon elapsing a predetermined time, vacuum is interrupted and pressurized air is supplied thus obtaining a wool molding easily. The molding die 7 is most advantageously molded of sintered metal or metal mesh laminate.
