PURPOSE:To cover an air blower with heat exchangers and reduce noise and to decrease the height of an external box and improve its installation by providing the heat exchangers at both the sides of a suction port and a blow-off port in the air blower for blowing off air the suction part to the blow-off port. CONSTITUTION:The external unit of an air conditioner comprises an external box 1 on one surface of which a blow-off port 2a is opened and at the internal center of which an air blower 3 is housed. In this case, in the suction side and the blow-off side of the air blower 3, heat exchangers 4a and 4b are respectively disposed. Air sucked in accordance with the operation of the air blower 3 first cools the heat exchanger 4a of the suction side and is collected by a bell mouth 5, and then, cools the heat exchanger 4b of the blow-off side. Even when the heat exchanger is large, it is not necessary to increase the number of air blowers 3. Since the air blower 3 is covered with the respective heat exchangers 4a and 4b, noise can be reduced. Since the heat exchangers are not piled, the height of the external box 1 can be decreased to that of one-stage of the heat exchanger. |
