PURPOSE:To provide the new subject compound useful as an oil-repelling agent, a mold release agent, an anti-staining agent, a plasticizer and a surface- improving agent for metals, wood, etc., and useful also as an intermediate for synthesizing other esters, amides, etc., because of having reactive groups in the molecule. CONSTITUTION:A fluorine-containing aromatic ester of formula I (Rf is perfluoroalkenyl of C6F11 or C9F17 R is H, 1-3C alkyl; Ar is benzene ring which may have a substituent, naphthalene ring which may have a substituent; n is 1-8; m is 0-7; but m+n is <=8). e.g. a compound of formula II. The compound of formula I is produced e.g. by reacting a fluorine-containing alcohol of formula III with an aromatic carboxylic acid of formula IV (1 is 1-8) or an ester thereof in the presence of an acidic catalyst. When a carboxylic acid having an aromatic ring is employed as a raw material, the number of fluorocarbon chains can freely be changed. The stable and highly branched fluorocarbon chains are introduced into the compound in a high rate. |
