The invention concerns a deck element system for installing a ship's deck with two types of element: a deck element 10 and an installation plank 20. According to the system, at least two opposite edges of the deck element 10 are provided with an under-plank 13, whereby two of these deck elements can be placed side by side so that both deck elements have their under-planks facing each other. In addition, at least two opposite edges of the installation plank 20 are provided with over-planks 24, whereby they essentially cover the under-planks of the deck elements 10, when the installation plank is placed between the deck elements 10, which are placed side by side with the under-planks facing each other.
