Mycobacterium proteins and in particular M. Bovis having a molecular weight of approximately 44.5 to 47.5 kD. Said proteins can have molecular weights of about 45 kD or about 47 kD and isoelectric pH values of about 3.7 (45 and 47 kD proteins) and 3.9 (47 kD proteins). Said proteins or hybrid proteins comprising a part of their sequences may by used as vaccines or medicaments, or for the detection and monitoring of tuberculosis, in particular in humans and in cattle.
