Device for mechanically isolating a cold cathode on a luminescent or fluorescent tube supplied with high voltage. The invention relates to a device making it possible to isolate a cold cathode supplied with high voltage from a person who may accidentally touch it. It consists of a casing in two parts (1) and (2). The cathode welded onto the glass tube and its supply wire (4) is introduced into the part (1); the orifice (7) beside the cathode allows the wire (5) to pass through. The part (2) is fitted by sliding in the grooves (8). The pressure is applied on the ribbed tongue (9) in order to close the device by the projection (10) and the notch (11). The device according to the invention is in particular intended for the safety of persons in premises which are open to the public. <IMAGE>
