The invention relates to a device for hooking seats over table tops in order to clear the floor of the legs of these seats while keeping the tops of the table usable. It consists of two supports (1) placed above the seat part (2), permitting the passage of the top of the table (3) between these supports and the seat part. A forward positioning of the centre of gravity (4) of the seat gives rise to a rearward tilting (5) of the latter, the locking of the top of its seat part against the underside of the top of the table and the separation (6) of its legs from the floor. These supports are placed on the back rest or the top of the rear legs or the arm rests. They may also be formed by these elements themselves. The device according to the invention is intended particularly for chairs and armchairs in restaurants, refectories, classrooms and various workstations. <IMAGE>
