A tube joint (20) for joining two tubes (21, 22) end to end comprising a tubular expansion member having a mouth (4) presented by a set of teeth, a plug (5) which engages the teeth and at least one of the plug and teeth having a tapered surface for engaging the other, a ramp (7) on the plug and screw means (8) in the wall of one of the tubes (21), the arrangement being such that in being screwed home radially the screw means (8) engages the ramp (7) on the plug and forces the plug in an axial direction thereby to draw the plug into the mouth (4) of the expansion member and expand the teeth against the interior of the other tube (22). |
