PRODUCTION OF POLYMER COMPOSITE CONTAINING DISPERSED PARTICLES

PURPOSE:To obtain a polymer composite by uniformly dispersing fine particles of a metal or a metal oxide in a crystalline polymer. CONSTITUTION:A crystalline polymer 1 is heated to a temperature higher than its melting temperature by 150-550 deg.C to form a lowly viscous liquid 4. This liquid is poured into a mold 5 and very rapidly cooled at a cooling rate of 100 deg.C/min or above to form a thermo-dynamically unstable polymer layer 6. A metallic layer 7 is formed on the surface of this layer vapor deposition, and the whole is heated to the above-mentioned melting temperature or below to stabilize the polymer layer 6 and thereby to divide and disperse the metal in the metallic layer in the polymer layer.
