PURPOSE:To cause neither color change or nor rust on a copper tape of the metallic shield layer, a copper wire strand, and optical fiber communication cable interposition paired copper conductors without impairing the waterproof effect of the waterproof tape. CONSTITUTION:A base material member 1 has at one or both surfaces a water absorption resin composition layer 2 composed of a water absorption resin powder, resin binder, and 1,2,3-bensotriasol or its derivative, at least one surface of the layer 2 being covered in some cases, by a covering member 3. The water absorption resin composition layer does not cause color change in copper nor rust even when it contacts copper in a metallic shield inside the cable, thereby imparting long-term reliability to the cable. Further, during working with the waterproof tape for cable or winding thereof onto a cable, the water absorption resin is not exfoliated whereby the tape has excellent water preventive characteristics in the thicknesswise direction as well as in the longitudinal direction of the tape. |
