A receiver (100) is provided for detecting the presence of signals on any one of a plurality of radio frequency channels. The wide bandwidth receiver (100) includes a receiver for receiving a wide bandwidth signal (101) having a plurality of radio frequency channels. The receiver (100) also includes a mixer (104) for mixing the wide bandwith signal (101) to produce an intermediate signal (115) which includes signal on any one of the plurality of channels. Also included in the receiver is a detector (120) for detecting energy components in the IF signal (115) that correspond to the carrier signals to determine the presence of a carrier signal. |
