Holder to keep hand tools in a ready position, esp. butcher's knives and tools etc. is formed by at least one mounting strut (4) and at least two side cheeks (5,6). At least the plastics holder body (1), or each body, is secured to the side cheeks (5,6) by a plug and socket system (10-13) to be assembled and dismantled without tools. The body (1) is cube-shaped, of two plate sections (1a,1b) against each other each with vertical grooves (7,8) facing each other to form complete holders (2,3) for the tools. The plug and socket connections (10-13) for the parts to be joined together (1,4,5,6) are swallowtail fittings. The side cheeks (5,6) have the swallowtail grooves (10.11) for the body (1) and the mounting strut (4). The swallowtails (12,13) are at the narrow end sides at the sides of the body (1) and ends of the mounting strut (4). Each swallowtail (12) of the body (1) covers half of the body plates' (1a,1b) width. The body (1) height line is at an angle, such as 30 deg., to a theoretical vertical plane. The assembly can be extended by at least one extension kit (1,4,6) with a mounting strut (4), a side cheek (6) and a body (1) with, if required, further mounting grooves (14,15) for yet another extension kit. ADVANTAGE - The tool and instrument holder is stable and robust in use, can be assembled and dismantled easily and rapidly, and can be cleaned easily.
