The disc filter system, to filter water from a suspension, has a longitudinal mounting with opposing troughed recesses each to take an adjacent filter plate fitted to the axis. Each filter plate is a filter element unit, with filter surfaces mounted to the frame projections to form an indivisible unit. The filter plates are mounted in place so that they are drawn into the inward grooves of flanking mountings at their sector edges against the axis. The axis has a throat section for each filter plate, with a water removal channel passing into the axis interior. The mountings are between the throat sections, with a longitudinal groove on each side against the neighbouring throat sections, to hold the side edges of the filter plates. A seal is between the outlet end of the filter and the throat section at the axis with the water outlet channel. The filter is drawn tightly against the throat section at the central axis. USE/ADVANTAGE - The filter system is used in the paper industry to separate fibre particles from a water suspension, or metal and mineral particles from water in the mining industry. The filter can be assembled easily, into a stable structure, with simple exchange of filter elements.
