The active suspension has a control valve system (44 to 77) for each unit. The safety system is operated if a defect is detected. This system takes over the suspension control and has separate valves to connect the suspension unit to the supply and to the return flow. The valves are normally held closed by springs and are operated by solenoids. The solenoid current is controlled to regulate the open position of the valves, thereby controlling the fluid. The system includes sensors for pressure, displacement and dynamic forces. ADVANTAGE - Uses minimum of fluid flow, efficient control, failsafe.
