The hydrocyclone type separator has a cylindrical body (4) with a central inner chamber. The separator has an inlet (8) which runs tangentially into the inner chamber. The separator has an outlet, for the coarser solid particles, which is formed by a tubular element (2) with a tapered bore (5). The liquid and very fine particles flow out through a second tubular element (16) with a parallel bore (17). This outlet tube for the liquid is screwed into the bore of a bush (18) which is screwed into the body (4). This method of attaching the liquid outlet tube enables tubes with bores (17) of different dias. to be fitted in order to vary the degree of separation of the solid particles from the liquid.
