Prepn. of polyurethane foams using metal complex - giving comparable compression hardness without use of chloro-fluoro carbon(s)

The prepn. of a polyurethane (PU) foam opt. in block or moulded form, without the use of fluorocarbon hydrocarbons (FCH3) comprises reacting isocyanate with polyol in the presence of propellant, opt. in the presence of a catalyst and/or stabiliser and/or chain lengthener and/or crosslinker and/or physical propellant. A metal complex is added which comprises a metal cation and an anion having an isocyanate-reactive H atom. Also claimed are polyurethane forms including metal cations bound in the polymer structure. ADVANTAGE - The foams have comparable compression hardness w.r.t. foams prepd. using FCHC propellants, and the prepn. is less environmentally harmful.
