The flexible coupling uses a pair of plates at right angles to the shaft axis and joined inside to one of the shafts so that the plates deform along the shaft axis. One endface of each plate is peripherally raised and lowered to form an undulating surface to work via rollers with the opposing surfaces on the coupling part joined to the other shaft so the plates deform axially and elastically with any relative shaft movement and so absorb this movement by spring effect. A ring flange (3) on the coupling part (1) having the opposed surfaces (25) is coupled to the shaft (14) through co-operating axial arcuate and straight toothing. The ring carries the opposing surfaces (25) for the rollers (5) on the other coupling part. USE/ADVANTAGE - Motor vehicles, crankshaft joints. The coupling has axial and angular movement to cushion the shaft movement and eliminate flexural loading.
