The belt drive is esp. for a control drive or timing device for an IC engine. It has at least two drive wheels and a tension medium, whereby the drive wheels are axially displaced relative to each other. One drive wheel (12) is at least double edged (22,24) with a ring shaped separation between the track(s) and the other drive wheel (14) extends into the groove on separation. USE/ADVANTAGE - Reduced noise and wear characteristic of belt drive for IC engine. The shaft centres for the drive may be close together, leading to a compact layout.
